Although there are also some cases where grandparents are included in custody agreements, for example playing a supervisory role in visits between a child and an abusive or violent parent.
There are different types of cases that fall under this category but the major ones are divorce and custody of children. All divorce cased are handled and finalized in a court of law. A few years ago, the process of going through a divorce was very long and could take even years. Today however, the process has been made easier for the couples that are willing to reach a mutual agreement.
While most family law pertains to married couples, there's a sub-specialty of family law that pertains to partners that are not married. This includes attorneys who are experts in issues associated with common law marriages, and also attorneys who are proficient in laws and regulations in connection with same-sex marriage. Since same-sex marriage is a controversial issue in Denver, it is a good idea to consult with a family lawyer who is skilled in this area if you have concerns.
Generally, courts cannot decide issues of custody in a Georgia legitimation proceeding. The father does have an equal right to custody once he legitimates the child, but he must bring a petition for custody in a separate action. The exceptions to this rule under Georgia law are if the mother consents to consideration of custody, if there is no other legal guardian of the child, or if the mother is deceased.

Among all the issues tacked under this law, adoption takes a small percentage. Adoption is mainly a process of negotiating between the biological parents and the parents who want to adopt the child. The lawyers of both sides are supposed to ensure despite any outcome, the rights of the child will be the most important. In this whole process all or some of the rights of the biological parents will be revoked. Other times the biological parents will have a few rights over the child they give up for adoption.
